As an experienced hospitality stocktaker supporting businesses across Cambridge, Bury St Edmunds, Thetford, Lowestoft and surrounding areas, I bring over 25 years of hands‑on expertise in stock control, margin improvement, and business analysis. I have been a Stocktake UK franchisee since 1996, after deciding I wanted to work closer to home and run my own business.
Over the years my workload has evolved from pubs and social clubs to a dynamic mix of golf clubs, coastal venues, independent restaurants, multi‑site operators and larger hospitality groups. I enjoy this variety—every stocktake brings a different environment, challenge, and set of goals. Since the pandemic, businesses across the region have become far more focused on margins and accurate reporting, making professional stocktaking more vital than ever.
Being self‑employed offers wonderful flexibility, although balancing workloads can be challenging during peak periods. In hospitality, things change quickly, so staying adaptable is essential.
My background is deeply rooted in hospitality. After college I worked in hotels, both front‑ and back‑of‑house, before progressing into management roles. I later moved into an office‑based hospitality position with a strong focus on financial analysis.
In the early days, new business came through mailshots and office‑arranged meetings. Today, most of my clients come from recommendations, industry contacts, ILSTA membership, and corporate referrals via the Stocktake UK head office. Corporate stocktaking work—particularly for multi‑site venues across Suffolk—has increased significantly and often involves collaborating with other Stocktaker’s, which is a great way to share ideas and best practice.
