Chris Gumm – Stocktaker Blackburn
Based in Blackburn and covering Clitheroe, Burnley, Nelson
In 2012 I decided to be able to work for myself as a Stocktaker in Blackburn and the surrounding areas, whilst enjoying the support and knowledge of a trusted name in stocktaking.
With leads from head office, personal contacts and recommendations, I now have a full diary. This still allows for free time on most weekends and the occasional week away. The flexibility of managing my own diary along with support afforded by head office. Early starts can be very early! But early starts can mean an early finish.
I have been involved in hospitality for over 35 years. I have been a bartender, bar manager, pub and restaurant manger and a tenant and lessee.
Gaining clients from Stocktake UK can lead to working as a team member on a regular basis. On a personal note this has lead to friendships outside of work.
Weekends are usually spent in the hills, walking with my Labrador. We’ve walked the Three Yorkshire peaks on a couple of occasions as well as Scafell pike and other Cumbian mountains. A recent trip to Florence ignited a passion for all things Sangiovese, Chianti Classico and Brunello di Montalcino! WSET 2 with WSET 3 sometime in the near future.
If you could go back in time and offer your former self any advice what would it be?
To begin working as a stocktaker sooner than I did, being self-employed, but yet still having the technical support and business leads from Stocktake UK.
