After finding myself being made redundant from previous employed role, in 2005, I choose Stocktake UK, to take advantage of a national brand and presence, whilst retaining and managing my own diary and business.
After 12 months, I had grown to around 20 clients which roughly covered one job per month. This gradually rose, leading to using the resource of fellow franchisees around me. Over time, the most important thing has been the consistency of relationships with clients. Some of whom have been with me for nearly two decades. There are challenges in maintaining client date preferences, but generally with forward planning the work/life balance is positive.
Working in the trade since 1994, in a local Snooker Hall, before progressing with larger Chain Operations (Tom Cobleigh & JD Wetherspoon). I’ve worked as everything from a Cleaner & KP to Site Management and Regional Operations whilst also completing a degree in Accounting & Finance in the late 90’s.
Work as a Stocktaker in Lincoln and the surrounding area has grown through a combination of National Account work and local recommendation. The key to all work is maintaining a positive client relationship, through good communication and providing information in a timely manner. For many of my clients, I have more historical knowledge of the venues than anyone who works there!
Outside of work, life surrounds my family activities. As a father of 5 , some of whom are now adults, life is and has always been busy. I also Volunteer as a Treasurer and Support Leader for our local Scout group.
A stocktaking franchise is for anyone who loves the industry, but might be finding the working hours difficult or conflicting with personal circumstances. Working days can be long and involve a good deal of travelling, but weekends and evenings are spent at home and allow you time to be with the family many onsite operators don’t get.
